My stint as the MacEwan University writer in residence has concluded. Warm thanks to the faculty, administration, students, and Edmontonians-at-large who made this such a wonderful capacity in which to serve.
Earlier this month, Goose Lane Editions and UNB sent me on a phenomenal, if exhausting, tour of Montreal and the Maritimes, with stops at the Atwater Poetry Project, the legendary Fredericton Poetry Weekend, the Saint Mary's University Reading Series, and the Lorenzo Reading Series. The latter event, in Saint John with the great Ali Blythe, has been beautifully recapped by Katrina Pridgeon at The Baron.
"Shards," from a book-length sonnet project I'm working on, is on the shortlist for the 2015 Montreal Poetry Prize. Read it and the other finalists here. Update: Excellent news for a terrific poet and for a terrific press — Eva HD has won the prize. Check out her Mansfield Press debut here, and hear her read the winning poem here.
The Boneshaker Anthology: 2010-2013, featuring many terrific writers who have appeared at the Toronto Public Library's Boneshaker Reading Series, is now available for purchase here. Editor and series host Lillian Nećakov has assembled work from a dizzying array of contributors, including Carey Toane, Stuart Ross, Gary Barwin, Emily Schultz, A.F. Moritz, and Beatrice Hausner, and has also included three selections from Water Damage.
The Sunburst Award for Excellence in Canadian Literature of the Fantastic has announced its 2015 longlist, and Emberton has made the cut. Several formidable titles also appear on the list; it's excellent company!
